when do i have radiation only after breast cancer surgery? when i heal from surgery? or right away?

The primary and initial treatment for the majority of breast cancers is surgery. (The rare exception nowadays is that for very advanced or cancers with special skin involvement, many oncologists recommend starting with chemotherapy prior to surgery.) Historically, the main surgical treatment was a mastectomy – or removal of the entire breast. As surgery got more advanced, and pathology got better, and doctors learned that many women would really like to keep their breast if they could (doctors have always been a bit slow to realize the obvious), then “lumpectomy” – or removal of a small amount of breast tissue with the goal of removing the entire tumour and a certain amount of surrounding normal breast tissue – became much more common.

The challenge here was that despite good lumpectomies,

Does anyone have valid advice on how to change your diet to help fight breast cancer?

Any proven vitamins, supplements that you suggest also? Any evidence that this builds immune system, fights spreading, etc.?

Many nutrients found in plant foods have been linked to reducing cancer risk. For example, diets rich in the phytochemical lycopene may reduce the risk of prostate cancer, fiber-rich diets have been shown to reduce the risk of colon cancer, and choosing a diet low in fat helps to prevent breast and other types of cancer.

What is combined modality treatment for breast cancer?

Can you explain that to me please? For the intial stage of breast cancer that is.

combined modality treatment means combinations of all modalities…the modalities for cancer are surgery , radiotherapy and chemo.
These are used one after the other for a breast cancer.
for initial stage patient is taken up for surgery first
If breast conservation surgery done then radiotherapy follows surgery which is followed by chemo. otherwise after total removal of breast or mastectomy chemo only. followed by hormonal therapy depending on hormonal status

Breast cancer statistics show that over 1.2 million persons will be diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide this year, according to the World Health Organization. For breast cancer and prevention, it has long been known that regular physical activity has been shown to decrease the likelihood of having breast cancer. What has not been known or studied has been the effect of regular physical activity on the breast cancer survival rates or likelihood of death in women that already have breast cancer. That is, until now.

The breast cancer statistics and findings as reported by the American Medical Association’s Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in May 2005 were astounding! Certain participants in the study of women with Stage I, II or III breast cancer achieved a 50% reduction in the death rate from breast cancer.

Here are these breast cancer statistics: the journal reported that in the study 2,987 female registered nurses
