Fifteen-year-old Roxanne Bowers is a typical teenage girl – if you consider throwing fire batons and swords typical. These are just two of the items Roxanne twirls during football season when she leads the East Palestine High School band onto the field for its half-time performance as the feature twirler. In late November 2007, Roxanne was faced with a new challenge. She had problems breathing and started to experience chest pain, which gradually worsened. Shortly after her first trip to Akron Children’s, Roxanne was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
